the amazingness of Genesis 1:1
i’ve been obsessively watching youtube videos lately. and i came across this gem.
actually, this video sent little chills up and down my back. i mean, i know God is a detail-oriented God, but i never really realized to what extent.
when people ask you to “prove” Christianity, usually the only tools we can use is our faith, testimony, and the Bible. but did you know that the Bible has proof within it’s authoritative statements?
give this a watch…
Get off facebook! Be a man!
I don’t know much about Paul Washer… in fact, I honestly don’t think I’d ever heard of him before I came across this videoback in February. I have no idea what his exact stances are on the Bible, or Salvation, or what His standards are. At the same time, I don’t agree with everything John Piper teaches or what Charles Spurgeon believed either, but that doesn’t stop me from quoting them from time to time.
The title is what caught my attention first, so I decide to give it a listen. I like it.
What Christianity is NOT.
I normally don’t call people out on things when I disagree with them. In fact, if I’m ever upset enough about something I’ll write a generalized post such as {here} and {here}. But, for the most part, usually I just let it slide — unless it really, really irks me. Well, I’m irked. And I mean really.
This is what Christianity is NOT. If you are not a Christian and you’re reading this – please realize that while there are a few overboard, hating radicals out there, this is not the norm – nor is it what Jesus Christ teaches in His Word. Please, don’t turn deaf ears on the Lord because you’ve encountered people like this. These people are getting it wrong. While some of their core doctrine might be spot on, the way they’re presenting it and what they’re wrapping it all up in is completely wrong.
Confessions of a RIFB Girl of 20-something {I read Christian fiction romance novels.}
I’m just going to warn you now… this is a long one! Not necessarily because the topic took “that” much time to discuss… but because I found myself rambling in a few places. I admit it. So, please enjoy the rabbit trails… take in the scenery, but please excuse the pile-age of mess in the back corner (I need to do laundry… badly).
Also, for those who are wondering, I would like to inform you that I did not skip church to record and post this. The video was recorded and the post was written last night and scheduled for auto-publishing this morning. Genius, I know.
{Oh man, I just smeared sticky lip gloss up my nose… ugh, this stinks.}
Confessions of a RIFB girl of 20-something {I watch TV.}
The next episode of the Confessions of a Rebellious, Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Girl of 20-something is here!
Okay now, I understand that many Christians (Baptists) own TV’s and watch movies and such from time to time. However, I’ve known many people over the years that will not allow their families to watch “TV”… or worse yet, Cable TV. Please keep in mind that while I consistently said “TV” all throughout this video, I really was referring to Cable TV the whole time… because that’s what we have, and that’s what I watch.
Confessions of a RIFB girl of 20-something {dating websites.}
And we’re back with yet another episode (“episode”…? episode. *shrugs* I guess…) of the Confessions of a Rebellious, Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Girl of 20-something.
Relationships are sometimes hard to come by in Christian circles. And by “relationships” I’m referring to girlfriend/boyfriend relationships. Admit it… sometimes the pickings are slim to none. What do you do when that happens?! Well…
God’s chisel.
I saw this video for the first time last night and it struck a huge wound in my spirit. I laid in my besd last night as I watched this little video on my cell phone and I cried because I realized… I’m Tommy.
Most of God’s “chiseling’s” are talkers. I don’t want to be a talker. I don’t want to be “in control” anymore. No matter what it may cost, or how much it may hurt I want to be surrendered to the chiseling of of God’s handiwork.
Confessions of a RIFB Girl of 20-something {I eat at restaurants that serve alcohol.}
Continuing on in this series, the second confession is now here!
I’d like to point out rather quickly how uncommonly good my artwork has gotten in a mere couple of days.
jk. I didn’t draw the restaurant logos… I stole them from google image. (hey, at least I’m admitting I did that.)
Also, if some of you don’t know what these restaurants are, I welcome you to take a look: Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Chili’s, Applebees, Buffalo Wild Wings (BDUBS), and I think we all know what McDonald’s is.
Confessions of a RIFB Girl of 20-something {I go to the theater.}
Lights! Camera! Action! …and we’re off!
Confessions of a Rebellious, Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Girl of 20-something.
The first Confession post in the series is here. I have to admit, doing this series as a string of videos was not my idea. In fact, the thought never even crossed my mind. It didn’t even play a game of peek-a-boo. Nope. Actually, a preacher friend on facebook suggested this idea, and the more I thought about it the more fun it sounded. I’m not saying that all the posts will be videos, but expect to see a few more pop up here and there.
Vlog post: confessions of a {blah, blah} Baptist girl.
Last night I wrote a post asking all of you {my wonderful readers} for some SOS. I’m continuing that trend today…
But, this is not like every other post you can “read” here at Grow Up! – no, no… this one is special. You get to “watch” me and “hear” me speak in the little “announcement” video I made last night for this series!
